HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) – Police cars surrounded a Hollywood neighborhood after a shooting left one person dead and another hospitalized.
The bullets were shot in the area of North 24th Avenue and Pershing Street around 12:30 a.m., Wednesday.
Around 6 a.m., authorities appeared to be focused on a vehicle riddled with bullets as they searched and marked the crime scene.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene while another was transported to the hospital.
Live video footage captured earlier in the day showed a tarp covering a body.
Jeremy Phillips, a man who stayed the night with his mother, described the shooting like “living in a war zone.”
“Brrrrraaam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam,” he said as he described the noise. “It’s crazy. I thought I was at war or something.”
Multiple evidence markers were scattered across the area with at least two cars riddled with bullets.
“It’s just too much. You got kids around,” said Phillips. “People don’t seem to say nothing or speak up about it, but something gotta change. It’s only right.”
There is still no word on any suspect(s) description.
Ranald Bibnnestin spoke to 7News and he said his 30-year-old nephew, who was visiting from Palm Beach, was the one who was shot and killed.
“It was not one gun, it was a machine gun,” he said.
Police have not confirmed the identities of either victims.
