SALT LAKE CITY — It debuted at Sundance last winter. Arriving in theatres tonight is a different kind of movie, it’s called “Thelma.”
The star is June Squibb and she’s adorable.
In real life, she’s a 94-year-old grandmother. In the movie, she falls victim to an online scam.
Thelma decides she’s not going to take it lying down. And from there, Thelma becomes “Thelma in Louise” but instead of a car, it’s a wheelchair.
It’s like “Mission Impossible.” A nail-torn senior citizen wearing a sweet sweet grandma mask.
And like Tom Cruise, June Squibb did her own stunts.
The movie is based on the real-life scan that happened to the director’s grandma, who is 103 years old. To her, June Squibb at 94, is just a kid.
And she proves that while your age is a finite number, being old is strictly a matter of perspective.
