The India vs Bharat debate dominated news channels for a significant period. While Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar didn’t directly address the issue, he made a noteworthy adjustment to the title of his latest film, changing it from Mission Raniganj: The Great India Rescue to Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue. In a recent interview, Akshay explained the reasoning behind this decision and avoiding taking a definitive stance on the India vs Bharat debate.
During his conversation with Times Now, Akshay conveyed that he had noticed the emerging trends and developments in the news. The actor explained that he decided to make the adjustment in response to this trend. Akshay emphasized that, in his view, both “India” and “Bharat” held equal significance. He went on to mention that he had discussions with his director and producer, and they agreed to the alteration. Akshay found that the modified title had a pleasing rhythm.
“India and Bharat both are same, it is that we have been saying Bharat and Hindustan since childhood. So, we didn’t think much about it. I am not into politics. For me India, Bharat, Hindustan are all alike but when I saw people were talking about Bharat so I went ahead and changed the name of the film,” he said.
Though Akshay Kumar hasn’t shown any interest in joining politics, his film choices have often led many to think that politics might be his next career move. When asked about the same in a recent India Today interview , Akshay said, “No, I am not joining politics. I don’t know what will happen in future but for now I am not joining politics. I am doing such films because I feel it’s important to bring such subjects in front of people. God has given me such a nice platform that I can do films and I can tell people what all has happened in our nation through my films like Kesari, Samrat Prithviraj or any other film.”
Despite the name change, Mission Raniganj has failed to leave a significant mark at the box office. According to industry tracker Sachnilk, the film has amassed a total of Rs 13.85 crore within the first four days of its release.
