Northwest Texas Healthcare System (NWTHS) has promoted Magen Fields, PharmD to the Director of Pharmacy. Fields is licensed as a Registered Pharmacist and serves as a Pharmacist Preceptor with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
Fields began her career at NWTHS in 2017, according to a news release, and has served on numerous committees during her tenure to include Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medication Safety Team, and Antimicrobial Stewardship Sub-Committee. Fields was also instrumental in establishing employee assistance programs including one of the first food banks for employees offered at a business.
Fields received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Texas Tech University in Lubbock and her Doctor of Pharmacy through Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo. She is an alumna of Leadership Amarillo & Canyon and is a current member of the American Society of HealthSystem Pharmacists.
The nationally awarded workshop, Annie’s Project – Education for Women in Agriculture, will be offered Oct. 2-Nov. 6 by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Amarillo. The six-week educational workshop specifically tailored toward women in agriculture will be held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center, 6500 Amarillo Boulevard West.
Sessions will meet from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Monday through Nov. 6. Speaker topics will address five primary agricultural risk areas — financial, human resources, legal, market and production risk.
Registration is open to all women and is required at https://tx.ag/anniesprojectamarillo. Only 25 seats are available. The registration deadline is Oct. 1. The $75 fee covers costs for instruction, dinner, equipment and materials used in the workshop.
“Our target audience is women with a passion for agribusiness, whether they married into it, have been a part of it all their life, inherited the operation or just plain wanted to start on their own,” said DeDe Jones, AgriLife Extension risk management specialist and coordinator for the program, Amarillo, in a news release.
