In our top story. The audience was in for a choice with Fukrey 3 and The Vaccine War as both films released on September 28th. While Fukrey 3 opened to a positive Rs 8.82 crore number at the box office, Vivek Agnihotri’s film could not even garner a crore. However, the weekend helped both films get a better footfall even with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan running to packed theatres. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, The Vaccine War collected Rs 2.20 crore over the weekend. This brought the total earnings to Rs 5.70 crores. On the other hand, the Mrighdeep Singh Lamba-directed comedy netted Rs 15.25 crore on day 4. Overall, the film has earned Rs 43.55 crore.
Moving on. On the occasion of the 99th birth anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, on Monday, 2nd October, Jio Studios and Maddock Films unveiled the exciting news that their upcoming film Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, will grace the screens on October 2, 2024. Set against the backdrop of the 1965 India-Pakistan Air War, Sky Force is based on a true story that vividly portrays the bravery, emotions, and unwavering patriotism of the courageous men in uniform who participated in India’s first and deadliest airstrike against Pakistan, overcoming formidable challenges in the process. Sky Force will also feature debutant Veer Pahariya in a prominent role.
The teaser for the Kangana Ranaut-starrer Tejas was unveiled on Monday, 2nd October. Written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara, the movie features Ranaut portraying the character of an Indian Air Force pilot. In the teaser released, a fighter jet leaves its hangar as Kangana prepares for her flight. Earlier, Kangana shared a new poster for Tejas featuring her wearing a flight helmet, and running alongside a fighter jet, with a backdrop depicting a bomb blast. Tejas revolves around the remarkable journey of Tejas Gill, an Air Force pilot. Initially slated for release on October 20, the release date of Tejas has now been pushed back by a week, and it is set to hit theatres on October 27.
Meanwhile, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was recently seen in the blockbuster film Jawan, took to his Instagram handle and penned a message on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Monday, 2nd October. Shah Rukh wrote in the caption, “Mahatma Gandhi Ji’s teachings are timeless and have underlined the importance of compassion, unity and love. He taught us how to never lose spirit and heart in the face of adversity. Let’s remember him and celebrate his legacy on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.” Actors across the film industry marked the occasion. Sidharth Malhotra, Anupam Kher and Mahesh Babu among others also took to their social media handles and penned messages.
Actor Supriya Pathak got candid about her bond with her stepson Shahid Kapoor and his kids in a recent interview. She told ANI – “Shahid is my son.I share a great bond with both my grandchildren and as a family, we all put in efforts to strengthen our bonds. We are very family-oriented and believe in sticking together through thick and thin.” Supriya Pathak and Pankaj Kapur got married in 1988 and have two kids, Ruhaan Kapoor and Sanah Kapur. Pankaj was first married to Neelima Azeem, with whom he had Shahid Kapoor.
Meanwhile, Actor Tabu, who will next be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film Khufiya, has opened up about her limited involvement in comedy films. In an interview with Galatta Plus, Tabu shared – “To begin with, I don’t think we have so many films in that genre being made every day. Any actor is always going to be doing fewer comic roles and comedy films as opposed to the other, right?” Khufiya is all set to release on Netflix on October 5. The film also stars Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Azmeri Haque Badhon.
Bipasha Basu has found herself dealing with trolls on social media who have criticised her for her post-pregnancy weight gain. In a recent interview, the actor addressed these trolls. She told News18 – “I would like to tell them to please keep trolling. It’s completely fine because I’m not bothered.” Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover welcomed their daughter, Devi, on November 12, 2022. Since then, their life has been centred around their precious daughter. Speaking about Devi, Bipasha shared – “Devi’s my number one priority now, when it comes to everything and anything. Every time I step out, I just want to run back home and be with her.”
Lastly, actor Anupriya Goenka recently spoke about not getting much work after the Salman Khan starrer Tiger Zinda Hai. In an interview with Indianexpress.com, Anupriya shared – “For the next six months, I didn’t get any calls! I remember being very unsure of what was happening.” In the 2017 actioner, Anupriya featured in the key role of Poorna, a nurse held hostage and followed it up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic Padmaavat, where she played the wife of Shahid Kapoor. The actor will be next seen in the action thriller series Sultan Of Delhi directed by Milan Luthria.
