In our top story. A special screening for Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles was held on 4th October. The stars and the makers’ family were seen arriving for the event. Akshay had his wife, Twinkle Khanna by his side. Twinkle’s mother and actor Dimple Kapadia also made it to the screening. The film is bankrolled by Pooja Entertainment. Actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani and film producer Deepshikha Deshmukh were seen at the event. Deepshikha’s husband Dhiraj Deshmukh who happens to be actor Riteish Deshmukh’s brother also made it to the event. Riteish was joined by his wife, actor Genelia Deshmukh. Mission Raniganj is out in theatres today, 6th October.
Moving on. A week after announcing her next film Jigra, Alia Bhatt took to Instagram on 4th October, to share some glimpses from the first day of the film’s shoot. In the pictures, the actor can be seen getting ready in her vanity van. In one of the pictures, Alia’s sister Shaheen Bhatt is seen standing beside her as she gets ready. She captioned the photos, “We’re rolling … day one of bringing our Jigra to life.. stay tuned as we bring to you a piece of our hearts.. fingers and toes crossed.” Alia is also bankrolling the project under her banner Eternal Sunshine Productions, along with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film is helmed by Vasan Bala.
Salman Khan on 5th October, took to his social media to promote Aamir Khan’s daughter’s, Ira Khan’s Agatsu Foundation. In the video shared by Salman, he highlighted the importance of ‘practising emotional hygiene’. Tagging Ira Khan, the actor wrote, “Kamaal hai yaar. Bacche bade ho gaye aur bade samajhdaar bhi…love it…God bless you beta..” Actors Aamir Khan and Salman Khan are known to be close friends. Ira has been working in the mental health space since 2019. Ira Khan started the Agastu Foundation in 2021 with Aamir Khan, and her mother Reena Dutta’s support. However, the star kid later revealed how she was overwhelmed by it but could not give up her desire to help others.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra is commemorating 45 years of his production house, Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films, in a grand style. To mark this momentous occasion, the filmmaker announced on October 5th that his iconic films 3 Idiots and Parinda will return to theatres from October 13 to October 19. Chopra also revealed that two of his notable films, Sazaye Maut and Khamosh, will be screened for the first time. He shared this exciting news on his production house’s official Twitter, and wrote – “As Vinod Chopra Films completes 45 years of storytelling in cinema, we bring back the magic to the big screens!” The filmmaker is currently awaiting the release of his next film 12th Fail, starring Vikrant Massey.
Actor Jim Sarbh in a recent interview, expressed his happiness on receiving his first International Emmy Awards Best Actor nomination for Rocket Boys Season 2. The actor told indianexpress.com – ” I was surprised and confused. That confusion later turned to excitement. It is very gratifying that Rocket Boys managed to stand out amongst such high-quality nominees. A story wants more than anything to be heard.” When asked whether he is building his niche in Hindi cinema, Jim said – “I don’t look at it that way. I like to act in all forms of the medium, from short films to series to features. It all depends on the vision of the director and the quality of the project.”
Meanwhile, Navya Naveli Nanda, actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan’s granddaughter took to social media on Thursday, 5th October to share her experience walking the runway for L’Oréal Paris at Paris Fashion Week. Navya wrote – “Thank you L’Oréal Paris for giving me the chance to be apart of a very special show. We walked as a family. Women of different professions, different ages, colours, shapes & sizes – celebrating diversity & worth.” Jaya Bachchan and Navya Naveil’s mother Shweta Bachchan cheered on the star kid, who wore a red dress, as she walked confidently on the ramp. Interestingly, Navya’s aunt, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also walked the ramp as the Indian ambassador for the cosmetic brand.
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt opened up about the time he spent in Pune’s Yerwada Jail. On the show Star vs. Food Survival hosted by chef Ranveer Brar, the actor revealed how he made the most out of his jail time. He shared – “In six years, I faced it, managed it, made the most out of it, and learned from it. I used that time to learn cooking, scriptures, and working out. I came out with a better physique.” Sanjay Dutt was accompanied by his friend and actor Suniel Shetty on the show. Sanjay, who was arrested for possession of arms used in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, was sentenced to five years in jail in 2013.
Lastly, actor Gayatri Joshi’s husband Vikas Oberoi is being investigated in Italy after the couple’s car collided with a Ferrari, killing a Swiss couple, Markus Krautli and Melissa Krautli, on Wednesday, 4th October. If found guilty, the businessman will serve a seven-year jail term, reported Daily Mail. Oberoi was driving a blue Lamborghini Huracan on a narrow highway in Italy’s Sardinia and was trying to overtake a camper van ahead of him. Meanwhile, a Ferrari tried to overtake both vehicles, causing the camper van to overturn, and immediately catch fire. It pushed Oberoi’s car to the side of the road, and he and Gayatri escaped the deadly collision unhurt. The Cagliari police have opened an investigation.
