HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – One person died Monday morning after being pulled from a duplex fire in Hollywood, first responders confirmed.
The fire was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Dewey Street.
“When officers arrived on scene, they contacted some of the neighbors and they did observe that there was indeed a fire to the rear single unit,” Officer Christian Lata, who is a spokesman for the police department, said.
According to Hollywood police, firefighters also arrived at the scene and found one victim inside the duplex.
That person was pulled from the fire and was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital where they died.
Police said the state fire inspector is at the scene assisting with the investigation.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and the victim’s identity has not been released.
