Celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani has opened up about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan’s first photoshoot together. The ace photographer took a trip down memory lane and recalled how an ‘awkward’ Abhishek was asking him ideas to pose with a girl.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Dabboo said, “Abhishek and Aishwarya’s first photoshoot together for a movie, I had only done. For their first film, they shot together in Switzerland. I made them pose together for the first time. So, he (Abhishek) was asking me for poses, ‘How do I do?’ Because he was also new. So, he said, ‘How do I pose with a girl? I’ve not done this before.’”
Dabboo continued, “This was before they were going out. Abhishek was a thorough gentleman. He is like a very proper gentleman, so he was awkward the first time to pose with a girl and how to hold her and stuff like that. Initially, I remember he was asking me for ideas. Of course, it was a schedule of a movie, so it was the first day, and after that, we shot a lot together and obviously got more comfortable.”

Abhishek and Aishwarya’s first film together was Dhai Akshar Prem Ke. Abhishek had previously opened up about his photoshoot with Aishwarya and told Vogue, “The first time Aishwarya and I met professionally was in 1999, during a photoshoot for Dhai Akshar Prem Ke. It was our first film together, and I expected a diva. Instead, she was disarmingly wonderful.”
The couple then went on to star in films like Kuch Naa Kaho, Bunty Aur Babli, Guru, and Dhoom 2, among others. Aishwarya and Abhishek tied the knot in 2007 and they welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011.
