After experiencing a dip in its box office earnings during the second week, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal regained momentum on its third Saturday, raking in Rs 13 crore, as reported by Sacnilk. This pushes Animal’s total domestic collection to Rs 498.14 crore.
The film boasted a 22.14 percent Hindi occupancy and a 23.81 percent Telugu occupancy. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal crossed the Rs 800 crore milestone globally. The makers shared that the film has earned Rs 817.36 crore. A post by T-series read, “#Animal remains invictus at the Box Office🪓🔥.”
During the initial ten days of its release, Animal enjoyed a phenomenal run at the box office. However, on the 11th day, it saw a significant, 61 percent decline, collecting Rs 13.85 crore. The downward trend continued into the second week, with single-digit earnings of around Rs 8 crore on both Thursday and Friday.
Despite facing competition from Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur, Animal has set new records at the box office. The film managed to bounce back during its third weekend, showing growth on Saturday, and is expected to maintain similar momentum on Sunday.
However, challenges lie ahead as Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki is set to release alongside Prabhas’s Salaar in the coming week. Considering the box office success of SRK’s previous two films, Jawan and Pathaan, Dunki is poised to provide stiff competition to its contemporaries.
Animal stars film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. The film received mixed reviews and was bashed for glorifying violence. Earlier, Animal became a topic of discussion in Parliament amid its record-setting box office run. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ranjeet Ranjan criticised the film for its “justification of violence and misogyny.” “My daughter and a bunch of other children were watching the film. They cried and left the theatre at halftime. The film’s justification of violence and misogyny is shameful,” she told the Upper House of Parliament.
