HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Members of the Local 10 News team came together on Sunday to take part in the annual Marfan Foundation walk.
Marfan is a genetic condition that affects the body’s connective tissue, the tissue that holds all of our organs and cells together.
About 1 in 5,000 people have Marfan Syndrome.
Sunday’s walk, which took place at TY Park in Hollywood, raised money for people with Marfan and other related conditions.
Eileen Novins, the Global Business Development Officer of the Marfan Foundation, said the event is about more than raising money.
“It’s a community building event,” she said. “People with rare conditions so often don’t know anyone else with what they have, and they don’t know what it’s like to go through the journey, and meeting someone on the same journey is so valuable”
Every year Local 10 News raises funds and awareness for Marfan Foundation’s cause.
This year’s event that saw around 300 people was hosted by Local 10 News Anchor Nicole Perez.
