(WLUK) — An Appleton native is getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Actor Willem Dafoe will be honored with the 2,768th star in a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard on Monday, Jan. 8.
The guest speakers will be actress/director Patricia Arquette and actor Pedro Pascal.
The ceremony will be livestreamed here, starting 11:30 a.m. PST/1:30 p.m. CST.
Dafoe, who studied theatre at UW-Milwaukee, has appeared in more than 100 films, including “Platoon," the Spider-Man franchise, and the voice of Gill in Finding Nemo.
He's been nominated four times for an Academy Award for his work in “Platoon,” “Shadow of the Vampire,” “The Florida Project” and “At Eternity's Gate.”
Last spring it was announced he would be cast in Beetlejuice 2, directed by Tim Burton. The film will also feature other big name stars such as Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara and Jenna Ortega.
In a 2021 interview, Dafoe says he found his love for acting while participating in community theater as a child at Lawrence University in Appleton.
