Veteran actor Asha Parekh said that true friendships exist in Bollywood, and her equation with contemporaries Waheeda Rehman and Helen is proof enough. The veteran said those who feel otherwise must be asked why, as a blanket statement about the industry may not necessarily be true.
Asha Parekh was speaking at a News18 India event, where actor Kangana Ranaut was also present earlier. During the interaction with the veteran actor, when the host asked her about Kangana’s remarks about fake friendships in Bollywood, Asha Parekh disagreed. “Have you seen how close me Waheeda ji and Helen ji are? We have a strong friendship,” the screen icon said. When asked if such strong friendships exist in Bollywood today, she added, “Ab woh Kangana ji se puchiye na, ki kyu nahi hai (Please ask Kangana why it doesn’t exist anymore)?” as the audience clapped.
The veteran continued, “Aapne aisa kyu nahi pucha, ki aap aise kyu bol rahe hai? Aapne kisi se dosti ki hai ya nahi (Why didn’t you ask her why she said that? Has she tried to be friends with someone or not)?”
When the host said that perhaps Kangana spoke from her experience, Asha Parekh said, “It is a personal choice of everyone, whether they want to be friends with someone or not. So, you must ask her ki woh kyu nahi dosti karti? Mere saath toh bohot achchi hai woh (She is very good to me).”
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut is currently awaiting the release of her next, Tejas, scheduled to hit the big screens on October 27. The film, written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara, shows Kangana in the role of an Air Force Pilot.
