Air India has said that it will refund journey fare and provide a voucher for future travel to passengers who were stranded for nearly two days in Magadan after their New Delhi-San Francisco flight was diverted to the Russian city following a technical snag in one of its engines.Air India had sent a ferry flight to Magadan and it landed with the passengers in San Francisco on Thursday.In a letter to the passengers, the airline said that the pilots received an indication of low oil pressure in one engine and out of caution, they elected to land the aircraft at a nearby airport. At least 15 people were killed and 50 others sustained injuries after a blast occurred on Thursday near the funeral of the former deputy governor (acting governor) of Badakhshan in Badakhshan province, TOLOnews reported citing a local official.The blast occurred in a mosque in Faizabad, Badakhshan province, Afghanistan.

Autoliv , the world’s biggest maker of airbags and seatbelts, plans to cut around 8,000 jobs, joining the growing ranks of companies speeding up cost savings in the face of high inflation. The Swedish company, which counts many of the world’s top automakers among its customers, said on Thursday it would cut around 6,000 direct jobs and up to 2,000 indirect positions, such as employees not working directly on production lines. Air India has given a key updated on the flight that was forced to divert to Russia due to technical glitch. ‘Flight AI173D from Magadan, Russia (GDX) took-off for San Francisco (SFO), carrying all passengers and crew. Air India has mobilised additional on-ground support at SFO to carry out the clearance formalities for all passengers upon arrival. The team at SFO is prepared to provide all necessary assistance to the passengers, including but not limited to medical care, ground transportation, and onward connections in applicable cases,’ Air India said in a statement.
