IMD’s latest bulletin says that Cyclone Biparjoy is on path to recurve towards Kutch in Gujarat. It may weaken a bit in the process but still retains strength to large areas with heavy rains, storm surges. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries that operates the world’s largest refining complex, has suspended exports of diesel and other oil products from Sikka port because of the cyclone, a Reuters report says.

Indigo Airlines issued a clarification on latest media report that said the co-founder Rakesh Gangwal’s family was planning to sell its stake in the airlines. In a regulatory filing, Indigo said that, “We would like to state that the Company has not received any such information nor has the Company been made aware by the Co-Founder of their intention to sell their stake.” Indigo shares were up by 1 per cent during the trade at BSE.
Latest update from the weather office says that Cyclone Biparjoy will make the landfall between 4 pm and 8 pm tomorrow. Affected areas are likely to witness windspeed of 150 kmph. Porbandar, Kutch, Rajkot and Dwarka will witness very heavy rainfall. Neighbouring Pakistan has deployed military for evacuation. Across the border, Indian officials say that as many as 44,000 people have been relocated to safe place.
The govt has released the May WPI numbers. According to latest data, the WPI inflation for May was at -3.48%against -0.92% of April. This is the second month in arow that the inflation figures are in negative territory. The govt data says that the current numbers are 3-year low. (READ MORE)

In a fresh incident of violent clashes in strife-torn Manipur, nine people were killed and 10 others were hurt in Imphal East’s Khamenlok area. According to news agency ANI, SP Imphal East Shivkanta Singh said that postmortem was underway. Latest reports say that curfew has also been curtailed in wake of the fresh violence.
Tamil Nadu’s electricity minister V Senthil Balaji has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate. In a late night development, ED officials arrested the minister under PMLA. He is the first minister in MK Stalin’s govt to face ire of central agency. The 48-year-old complained of chest pain. Balaji’s wife has moved the Madras High Court over the arrest. Meanwhile, CM Stalin says that ‘people will teach BJP a lesson in 2024.’ Balaji, who has been arrested for alleged involvement in the cash-for-job scam, underwent an angiogram in morning today. According to a medical bulletin issued by Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital, the minister has been advised ‘bypass surgery.’
