What better way for a business which has literally had a part in building communities in the Susquehanna Valley to celebrate 65 years in business than to bring the community together to find treasures in the valley, and win prizes for doing so.
T. Ross Brothers Construction Inc., based in Milton, is celebrating 65 years in business this year and for the occasion they’re hosting a scavenger hunt throughout the valley.
Beginning Nov. 10, they will be posting clues on social media to lead people to the location of keys that have been hidden in various sites, such as the YMCA and the Taber Museum in Williamsport.
“We will be partnering with businesses, museums and other organizations,” said Robert Tomlinson, marketing manager.
“These businesses and museums will post posters at their facilities. Our clues will lead them to them. And then clues on their posters will lead them to other businesses and museums. The clues will keep on leading to new places. So people get to discover the community and eventually, they’ll find the keys,” he said.
“It’s designed to create foot traffic kind of way before the holiday season. So people get to discover these businesses they may have not otherwise seen,” Tomlinson added.
The keys will be in Williamsport, Lewisburg, Milton, Mifflinburg, Danville, Selinsgrove and Watsontown to name a few.
“Quite a few of the main communities within the Susquehanna Valley stretching from Williamsport down to Selinsgrove,” Tomlinson noted.
Once a key is found there will be a note attached to contact Tomlinson who will then invite them to the 65th Anniversary VIP event, where the keys will be used to open chests containing the prizes.
The grand prize is $2,000 with second place, $1,000 and third place $500. There will also be seven boxes which contain things such as gift cards to merchandise from some of the participating businesses that people can win.
T. Ross Brothers Construction Inc., has been in business for 65 years, but the Ross family has been building in Central Pennsylvania communities since the ancestors of the current owners, Todd G. and Tom E., arrived in this country from Scotland. The two brothers purchased the business from their father and Cody Ross, one of his grandsons is working to establish a Ross Construction Academy for young people where they can receive training and certification.
In addition, the company also offers a scholarship to graduating high school seniors interested in the construction field.
