DOVER, Del.-A harrowing carjacking at the Hollywood Diner is being investigated by the Dover Police Department.
Police say they got a report of a stolen car around 5:30 p.m. Saturday and responded to the restaurant. The victim, a 17 year-old woman from New York, said she was sitting in the passenger seat of the running car when a black man got into the driver’s seat and began backing out of the parking lot. The victim got out of the car as it was moving, causing the car to hit the girl’s legs. She was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus and treated for minor injuries according to police.
The car was later found unoccupied at an apartment complex in Dover shortly after the incident.
This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302) 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com ; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.
