(CNN) – Legendary R&B musician Charlie Wilson got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.
Rap superstar Snoop Dogg joined his collaborator on “Tha Doggfather” album to celebrate the honor.
The 70-year-old Wilson, also known as “Uncle Charlie,” is the former lead vocalist of The Gap Band.
The 70′s funk group from Tulsa, Oklahoma, featured Wilson and his two brothers. The group released a long string of musical hits through the decades.
As a solo artist, Wilson has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards and received the Soul Train Icon Award in 2009.
In 2008, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He battled back and currently serves as spokesman for the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
