HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood police deployed a SWAT team to a Hollywood apartment complex after a domestic incident Monday morning.
It happened just before 10 a.m. at the Upton Apartments, near South Park Road and Hillcrest Drive.
Authorities said they took one person into custody and the victim is safe with police. They later identified the suspect as 22-year-old Yamik Giambri.
Police, who cleared the scene just before noon, said they responded to the complex after receiving a report of a possible shot fired during a domestic disturbance.
The victim told police there was a fight and that he or she was able to escape, authorities said.
Giambri turned himself in and faces charges of domestic battery by strangulation, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon domestic and depriving a victim of 911, police said.
He was being held on a $120,000 bond as of Tuesday morning, according to jail records.
