Dunki Box Office Collection, Day 5: Shah Rukh Khan-led film Dunki box office has benefitted from the long Christmas weekend. The film which started slow, with a collection of Rs 29.2 crore, witnessed a drop on its second day (Rs 20.12 crore), but it gained momentum on Saturday (Rs 25.61 crore) and reached its peak on Sunday and earned more than its opening day (Rs 30.7 crore). On Monday, the Christmas Day, the film again witnessed an impressive footfall despite strong competition from Prabhas’ Salaar.
Dunki day 5 box office collection in India was recorded at Rs 22.50 crore, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s total domestic collection in five days is Rs 128.13 crore. Red Chillies Entertainment, the production company behind the film, on Tuesday evening shared that Dunki worldwide box office gross is Rs 256.40 crore after five days of release.

The Rajkumar Hirani-helmed drama had an overall 39.53% Hindi occupancy, with the maximum footfall being recorded during the evening shows. Now, the film must maintain a steady momentum at the ticket counters during the week to cash in the upcoming New Year weekend. Also, its competitor, Salaar is earning big every day. On Monday, it collected Rs 42.50 crore, almost double of what Dunki could rake in. As per Sacnilk, Salaar has managed to earn Rs 251.60 crore within four days of its release.
Also, Dunki’s chances of coming close to Rajkumar Hirani’s last blockbuster, Sanju look bleak. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer earned in the same range as Dunki on its fifth day (Rs 22.10 crore), despite being a non-holiday release. It ended its run in the cinema halls with a total earning of Rs 342.53 cr. For now, according to trade estimates, the film won’t be able to register big numbers at the box office.
Dunki, also starring Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani, among others, is based on the concept of ‘Donkey Flight’, an illegal immigration method. The film’s success has left Shah Rukh, who already has two hits to his name this year, Jawan and Pathaan, overwhelmed. On Sunday, he addressed his fans from his bungalow Mannat and expressed his gratitude for all the love they are showering on Dunki.
