Despite facing stiff competition from the Prabhas-starrer Salaar, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki has maintained a steady pace at the box office. However, after making the most of its first weekend and the Christmas holiday period, Dunki has witnessed a consistent decline in revenue. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Dunki is expected to earn Rs 9.75 crore on Wednesday, marking the film’s lowest single-day haul. This will bring the film’s total domestic collection to Rs 151.26 crore.
On Wednesday, Dunki had an overall 19.89 percent Hindi occupancy. After seven days, Dunki accumulated Rs 305 crore in worldwide gross box office, as shared by Red Chillies Entertainment on X (formerly Twitter).
Dunki had a strong opening on its first Thursday, collecting Rs 29.2 crore. However, it saw a 31 percent dip on Friday, earning Rs 20.12 crore. Over the weekend, the film bounced back with a 27.29 percent increase on Saturday, pulling in Rs 25.61 crore. On Sunday, it saw a 19.88 percent hike and accumulated Rs 30.7 crore. This trend reversed on Monday, with collections falling by 20.78 percent to Rs 24.32 crore. It dipped further on Tuesday and recorded a 52 percent fall by raking in Rs 11.56 crore.
Dunki is Shah Rukh Khan’s weakest film this year, both critically and commercially. The star previously delivered Jawan and Pathaan in 2023, breaking his own records. Both movies grossed a combined total of over Rs 2200 crore, and with Dunki’s numbers factored in, Shah Rukh’s films have now grossed around Rs 2500 crore worldwide.
In a recent interaction with fans during an AskSRK session on X (formerly Twitter), SRK called Dunki his most challenging film. When a fan asked SRK to choose between Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, determining which was the most challenging film for him, the actor replied that dealing with varied emotions in Dunki made it the toughest film of the year. He wrote, “When u have to deal with varied emotions it’s always more of a work for an actor. So Dunki it is. #Dunki.”
Dunki was released a day before Salaar. While Dunki has crossed the Rs 150 crore mark in seven days of its release, the Prabhas-starrer has raked in Rs 297.40 crore in India till now.
