Let’s begin with our top story, Actor-couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh announced that they are expecting their first child. Through their Instagram post on Thursday, February 29th, the couple revealed that their baby was arriving in September 2024. Since their wedding in 2018, the couple has faced the inevitable question: “When will you start a family?” Despite this, they’ve consistently stressed their focus on career. However, they did express a desire to embrace parenthood in due time and also often spoke about their love for kids. Deepika always had her priorities on point. Even before tying the knot with Ranveer, the actor was very keen on starting a family.
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant commenced their pre-wedding celebrations with ‘Anna Seva’ in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The day witnessed the arrival of numerous Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities in Jamnagar to partake in the couple’s pre-wedding festivities. American singer J Brown and popular rapper Nicki Minaj’s musical director Adam Blackstone were spotted at the Jamnagar airport. Barbadian singer Rihanna’s team marveled at the traditional Gujarati dancers welcoming guests at the airport. Salman Khan and Manushi Chillar were also among the notable arrivals in Jamnagar. Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan departed from Mumbai’s Kalina airport to attend Anant and Radhika’s pre-wedding festivities. The Bachchans share a close ties with the Ambani family.
Moving on, Actor Ananya Panday made her acting debut with Student of The Year 2 in 2019 and has been part of some fairly successful films and duds. In a conversation with Film Companion, Ananya said every time she did a film she didn’t believe in, it reinforced her belief in doing films for the right reasons. She said, “I think maybe I did it for the wrong reasons, and I always knew that somewhere in my heart. Then when it didn’t go exactly as planned, I think it reinforced my belief in myself a lot more that you just have to go with your instinct because that’ll always pay off.”
Netflix has released the teaser of the upcoming film titled Wild Wild Punjab. Starring Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Patralekhaa, Ishita Raj Sharma and Sunny Singh in pivotal roles, the short teaser explores the dark lanes of Punjab against the backdrop of heartbreak and revenge. Produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, the film will release soon on Netflix. Wild Wild Punjab will be helmed by Simarpreet Singh. The teaser takes a wild ride as four friends seek revenge on their friend’s ex — typical Luv Ranjan territory. However, the plot takes a sudden turn, introducing chaos. What ensues is a series of mishaps, including bloodshed, fights, police encounters, gunfire, and humorous banter among friends.
Next up, Filmmaker Indra Kumar on Thursday, February 29th, announced the fourth installment of his comedy franchise Masti, starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani. The upcoming movie will be helmed by Milap Zaveri. It is produced by Kumar, A Jhunjhunwala, Ashok Thakeria and S K Ahluwalia. Zaveri, best known for Satyameva Jayate and Marjaavaan, said he is looking forward to directing the project. The first part of the Masti franchise released in 2004. It spawned two sequels: Grand Masti (2013) and Great Grand Masti (2016).
Kriti Sanon’s upcoming film Do Patti is bringing in a bunch of firsts. Not only is it her first production venture, but the newly released teaser also reveals some exciting details about Kajol’s role in the movie. Interestingly, Kajol will be portraying a cop for the first time ever in Do Patti. And for Kriti, this film marks her debut in the thriller genre. The teaser kicks off with a captivating scene featuring Kajol riding a bike through the picturesque hills of North India. Do Patti is written by Kanika Dhillon, who is known for her work in films like Manmarziyaan, Judgementall Hai Kya, Haseen Dillruba, Ra One and more. It is directed by Shashank Chaturvedi. It will release on Netflix.
Yodha, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Raashi Khanna, Ronit Roy, and Disha Patani, is going to be an action-packed thriller, with a generous dollop of patriotism. The film’s trailer was unveiled on a flight on Thursday, February 29th. Helmed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha, the film is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Shashank Khaitan’s Mentor Disciple Films. The trailer begins with some exciting shots of Sidharth in action. While sharing the film’s trailer, Karan Johar wrote on social media, “Be seated because it’s time for some unabashed action, thrill & adrenaline as our #Yodha takes over! See you at the big screens!”
Honey Singh is all set to shed light on his controversial life and career in Mozez Singh’s documentary Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous, which will stream on Netflix. Talking at the Next on Netflix event in Mumbai on Thursday, February 29th, the Punjabi star opened up about the “controversies that happened” in his life and career. He said, “Whatever work I have done for 12 to 13 years, people have made a perception about it. There are controversies that happened, my effigies were burnt, but I’ve never said anything. I wanted a camera and mic to share my side of the story.”
Lastly, From the time the makers of Amar Singh Chamlika announced the film, which stars Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role, the audience has been awaiting its release with bated breath. After announcing the release date — April 12 — amid heightened expectations, the makers dropped a fresh track — “Ishq Mitaye”, which is both soulful and upbeat, on Thursday, February 29th. Diljit took to his Instagram handle and wrote, “Mere agge duniya ka rang saara fikka, Apne lahu se hi lagaaya maine tikka..MAIN HOON PANJAB! #IshqMitaye – OUT NOW on Saregama Music YouTube Channel #AmarSinghChamkilaOnNetflix – 12th April.”
