Let’s begin with our top story, Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, who was last seen in the 2012 film Dangerous Ishhq, is all set to star in Netflix’s Murder Mubarak. In an interview with Film Companion, Karisma spoke about her film choices and the 90s, “At that time, we just worked. There was no calculation, there was nothing like that. We went by instinct and we just went by energy and passion.” Besides Murder Mubarak, Karisma Kapoor has ZEE5’s Brown in her kitty. Talking about her character in Brown, Karisma told Film Companion, “It’s not the usual heroine character. It was very different and unusual to play on screen. I think that’s why I found it really interesting.”
According to reports, Taapsee Pannu is planning to walk down the aisle later this month. The Dunki actor opened up about her relationship recently and revealed why she stuck with the same person throughout the years. In a chat with Zoom, Taapsee said, “I had to kiss many frogs before I reached the prince. But eventually when I grew up and when I started working, it’s been the same man and that’s because he’s a man, he’s not a boy. And that is a huge difference.” Taapsee also spoke about her rumoured marriage schedule, “If you let it be, if I find the right moment for it, I’ll myself talk about it.” Taapsee was recently seen in Dunki.
Growing up, Vindu Dara Singh, son of the legendary actor Dara Singh, shared a close bond with Bollywood star Sunny Deol. Vindu recounted how Sunny Deol, in his zeal for bulking up, went to great lengths to maintain his muscular physique. In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Vindu said, “Next time when he was shooting for the film, he told me now I won’t lose any muscle. I ask him, ‘How?’ and he took me to a room which was filled with milk cartons from London. I rolled over laughing.” Sunny Deol made his Bollywood debut with Betaab, which proved to be a success at the box office. The film emerged as one of the top-grossing Indian films of 1983.
Moving on, Irrfan Khan’s son and actor Babil Khan recently took a trip down memory lane and recalled his meeting with Shah Rukh Khan on the sets of Bilu Barber. In an interview with MensXP, Babil said, “It was great meeting with Shah Rukh Khan. I met him during the shoot of Billu Barber. I jumped on him. He came in a Bentley and behind him, the people from five villages were following.” Babil Khan said that he was with Irrfan Khan when Shah Rukh Khan came and as soon as he stepped out of the car, Babil jumped on the actor. On the work front, Babil will next be seen next in Shoojit Sircar’s directorial The Umesh Chronicles.
After portraying a justice-seeking police officer in Aranyak, Raveena Tandon returns to the screen, this time playing a lawyer. The trailer for her upcoming film Patna Shuklla was unveiled on Monday, March 11th, showcasing the actor in the role of a lawyer fighting for students victimized by a massive education scam. The Arbaaz Khan-backed show’s announcement came in a quirky manner, with Salman Khan taking to X to share the news. Salman Khan and Raveena Tandon engaged in a playful exchange on X to promote Patna Shuklla. Directed by Vivek Budakoti, Patna Shuklla will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar from March 29.
Next up, Amidst the Oscar buzz, Bollywood actor Yami Gautam called award ceremonies ‘fake’, while also praising Irish actor Cillian Murphy for his resilience as he clinched his first Oscar for his lead role in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Cillian also became the first Irish-born actor to win a Best Actor Oscar. In a post on X, Yami wrote, “Having no belief in any of the current fake “filmy” awards, since the last few years, I stopped attending them but today i am feeling really happy for an extraordinary actor who stands for patience, resilience & so many more emotions.”
With no major competitors in the box office arena, Vikas Bahl’s supernatural horror thriller Shaitaan, starring Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and R Madhavan in the lead roles, continues to show improvement in its performance day by day. It achieved its highest single-day collection to date at the domestic box office on Sunday, March 10th. Having started its theatrical run earning Rs 14.75 crore on its premiere day on Friday, March 8th, the film saw a spike of 27 per cent on Saturday, March 9th, collecting Rs 18.75 crore. On its third day in theatres on Sunday, March 10th, Shaitaan recorded an India nett collection of Rs 20.5 crore, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 54 crore.
Lastly, At the recently concluded Zee Cine Awards, Bollywood celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Bobby Deol, Shahid Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt delivered electrifying performances to some of their hit tracks. In addition to clinching the Best Actor award for his stellar performances in Jawan and Pathaan at the award show, Shah Rukh Khan also delighted the audience with his energetic performance of hit tracks like ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ from Dil Se and the more recent ‘Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ from his film Jawan. Dressed impeccably in black cargo pants paired with a silver jacket, Shah Rukh exuded charm and sophistication, with his flawless hair adding an extra touch of flair to his performance.
