According to a press note, actors Divya Dutta, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and filmmakers Krishna DK and Utpal Borpujari are part of the jury panel for the inaugural category. Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Ayushmann Khurrana among others, assembled at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad to cheer for Team India at the World Cup final against Australia on Sunday, November 19th. Deepika was the first to arrive and was accompanied by her sister Anisha Padukone and father Prakash Padukone. Also present at the match were Anushka Sharma and Athiya Shetty. The two actors were sitting together and cheered for their cricketer husbands Virat Kohli and KL Rahul respectively.
Meanwhile, filmmakers Nikhil Advani and Karan Johar had a fallout after they worked together in the 2003 blockbuster film Kal Ho Naa Ho, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. In a recent conversation with Rajshri Unplugged, Nikhil opened up on his rift with Karan and revealed that the two didn’t speak to each other after the film’s release. He shared – “We chose to listen to what other people were telling us and we moved away from each other.” Kal Ho Naa Ho was a huge box office success as it became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2003. Nikhil’s last project was Rani Mukerji-starrer Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway.
Veteran screenwriter & lyricist Javed Akhtar, in a recent conversation, was asked about his opinion on the current Hindi music industry and why most recent songs sound like a clone of each other. Akhtar told News18 – “I will not blame the songwriters at all. It is not that they are not talented, some of them are very talented. The problem is with the marketing department that controls the creativity and so the creativity suffers. So the situation given to songwriters is not conducive.” Javed Akhtar has penned many iconic songs in his illustrious career. Akhtar last worked as a lyricist in Kangana Ranaut’s 2020 film Panga. The film’s music was composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy.
Meanwhile, actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas has reportedly sold two of her apartments in Mumbai to filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey. She offloaded the two properties measuring a total of 2,292 square feet for a combined sum of Rs 6 crore, as per information obtained by Zapkey.com. Post her wedding to singer Nick Jonas in 2018, Priyanka has been living in Los Angeles with her daughter and husband. Abhishek is known for directing films such as Udta Punjab, Sonchiriya and more. The apartments are situated on the 9th floor of Karan Apartment Tower in Lokhandwala, Andheri. The report mentioned that the transactions were done by Priyanka’s mother, Dr Madhu Chopra, on behalf of the actor.
Actor Pankaj Tripathi, in a recent interview, spoke about his late father. Pankaj told Pinkvilla – “Usually after making a decision, I call him and tell him that I am doing a film. When he died I thought, ‘Now from whom will I take advice?’ Then I realised I hadn’t taken any advice from him for the past 25-30 years, so why this question? It is because a father is like a roof over your head and now it feels like that roof is removed.” Pankaj Tripathi lost his father Pandit Banaras Tiwari in August, the same month he won his first National Award for Best Supporting Actor, for his role in Kriti Sanon-starrer Mimi.
Lastly, in some tragic news. Filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi, renowned for directing Dhoom and its sequel Dhoom 2, passed away at the age of 57 on Sunday, November 19th. Filmmaker Boney Kapoor confirmed Gadhvi’s death. He told indianexpress.com – “He was at his house and collapsed after suffering a heart attack.” Sanjay embarked on his Bollywood journey with the 2001 film Tere Liye, which didn’t resonate well with audiences and largely went unnoticed. However, his breakthrough came in 2002 with Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, a Yash Raj Films production starring Uday Chopra, Jim Shergill, and Tulip Joshi. His last directorial venture was Operation Parindey, an action film featuring Amit Sadh in the lead role which premiered on Zee5.
