Let’s begin with our top story: Celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani has opened up about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan’s first photoshoot together. Reflecting on the past, the accomplished photographer remembered a moment when Abhishek, in a somewhat awkward manner, sought ideas for posing with a girl. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Dabboo said, “Abhishek and Aishwarya’s first photoshoot together for a movie, I had only done. For their first film, they shot together in Switzerland. I made them pose together for the first time. So, he (Abhishek) was asking me for poses, ‘How do I do?’ Because he was also new. So, he said, ‘How do I pose with a girl? I’ve not done this before.’”
Aamir Khan’s ex-wife and accomplished director-producer, Kiran Rao, recently joined Instagram to share an authentic view of her life. On Sunday, January 21st, she took to her Instagram story to post photos from a road trip with her ex-husband, actor Aamir Khan, and their son Azad Khan. Kiran shared a series of snapshots and a family photo. They were also seen posing with their dog. Sharing the click, Kiran wrote, “Road tripping with Sundari.” As per a report by Pinkvilla, Kiran Rao’s comeback film, produced by Aamir Khan, Laapata Ladies is slated for a release in March this year. Screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023, the film received a standing ovation.
Vikrant Massey-starrer 12th Fail has been getting praised from all corners. Actor Vicky Kaushal is the latest addition to the list. Vicky Kaushal took to his Instagram story on Sunday, January 21st, to share a post by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Vicky wrote, “Speechless! Bohot roya par dil khush ho gaya (Cried a lot my heart is happy). The best film, the best performance and the best story of the year. What a cinematic triumph! @vidhuvinodchoprafilms, I tip my hat off to you, sir (folded hands emojis).” Vicky Kaushal tagged Vikrant in his post and praised him for the role. “Jald hi milkar gale lagna hai (We will meet soon and hug). Such an inspiring performance (red heart emojis).”
Next up, Several actors from the Indian film industry, including Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Anupam Kher and Vivek Oberoi among others, on Sunday, January 21st, left for Ayodhya to attend the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of the idol of Ram Lalla at the grand temple today, January 22nd. The event will host dignitaries from various fields, including the Indian entertainment industry. Shefali Shah spoke to the media upon her arrival in Ayodhya for the ceremony. The Delhi Crime actor said,“It is a really big thing and I am feeling so proud, being an Indian. The culture in our country is so rich. But we are pretty unaware of it,” she said.
The much-anticipated film of 2024, Fighter, starring Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan, has been generating buzz. A few days away from its theatrical release on Thursday, January 25th, its advance ticket sales have already begun. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the action thriller has impressively amassed Rs 2.01 crore through the sale of 61,165 tickets for day one. While 24,095 tickets were sold for the 2D Hindi version, 30,553 tickets were sold for the 3D version, 3,364 tickets for IMAX 3D action, and 813 tickets for the immersive 4DX 3D experience. Directed by Siddharth Anand, Fighter boasts a stellar cast including Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in lead roles, along with Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, and Talat Aziz.
Moving on, the Period sports drama Maidaan, directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma of Badhaai Ho fame, will now hit the screens on Eid. Producer Boney Kapoor on Sunday, January 21st, shared the news via a text message to PTI when he was asked whether the reports claiming that Maidaan will now arrive in cinemas on the occasion of Eid on April 10 were true. The film has been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Its last release date was February 17, 2023. Maidaan, based on the golden years of Indian football, tackles the true story of Syed Abdul Rahim (played by Devgn), who served as a coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 until he died in 1963.
Rohit Shetty recalled an incident on the Chennai Express set that reminded him of a stunt mishap during his father MB Shetty’s direction in the 1980 film Bombay 405 Miles. In the movie, featuring Shatrughan Sinha, MB Shetty served as the action director. In an interview with The Lallantop, Rohit Shetty recalled the fatal accident and said the shot is still there in the film. “There was a lot of crowd when the scene was being shot. The understanding was that my father would tap the camera guy when he started running, and then the blast guy would be tapped, who was also standing there. But in chaos, no one knows how and when, they switched their places.”
Lastly: Bollywood actor Ananya Panday, who was recently seen in the film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, had opened up about her sweet encounter with Jackie Shroff in an interview during the film’s promotion. Jackie sent Ananya a one-word text, ‘Bhidu,’ to convey his constant support for her. In a chat with Humans of Bombay, when questioned about sending Ananya a one-word message, Jackie explained, “It was just to let her know that I am always there. Mere dost ka baccha hai. (She is my friend’s kid). All these kids are my friends. Their fathers aren’t my friends. They were at one time. . Jitne bhi bhidu hai mere, they don’t think that some relic is coming, some dinosaur is coming.”
