In our top story. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s action thriller, Tiger 3, experienced a robust opening at the box office, sparking high hopes for a blockbuster. However, after an initial surge, the film’s box office performance witnessed a significant decline. Industry tracker Sacnilk reported a projected collection of Rs 3.27 crore for Thursday, 23rd November bringing the film’s domestic earnings to Rs 253.03 crore. While currently holding the spotlight in theatres, the impending arrival of Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, and Sam Bahadur, featuring Vicky Kaushal, scheduled for a December 1st release, poses a looming challenge for Tiger 3. The film also encountered a significant lull during the 2023 ICC World Cup final, further impacting its box office performance.
Moving on. Actor Emraan Hashmi who is currently seen as the antagonist in Tiger 3, spoke about his journey. In a new interview with indianexpress.com, Emraan shared how it was a long journey for him to get rid of the ‘serial kisser’ tag that followed him in his early years to now doing roles for the ‘love of acting’. He said – ” I didn’t start the journey as a traditional main lead. It was a very different genre of film that I was working with. For me, it was an absurd name. I then decided that I had to try something different.” When asked what the lessons he’s learnt, he shared – “In this industry, there is no constant.”
After unveiling a teaser followed by several songs, T-Series finally released the first trailer for the highly anticipated Animal on Thursday, 23rd November. The film has been described as a romantic crime thriller, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. In Animal, Ranbir plays the scion of a business family, who goes on a hyper-violent revenge mission when his beloved father is attacked. The trailer begins with Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor’s characters play-acting a memory from the past. This exchange highlights the toxic dynamic that they share. Bobby Deol’s characteristic villain shows up in the trailer’s second half. Also starring Rashmika Mandanna, Animal releases in theatres on December 1st.
Meanwhile, the makers of Animal released the film’s trailer amid much fanfare at Delhi’s PVR Cinema in Connaught Place. The film’s lead actors Ranbir Kapoor, Booby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna were seen dressed in black attires as they attended the event. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga was also at the trailer launch. During the trailer launch, Ranbir shared that remembered his late father Rishi Kapoor while shooting for the film. Ranbir shared – “Whenever I used to meet Sandeep, I used to ask him to give me a reference point for my character. I have never experienced things like this and subconsciously I remembered my father. I think the way he used to talk, he was a very passionate, aggressive man.”
Ranbir Kapoor’s latest thriller Animal has been passed with an ‘A’ – adults-only certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification, makers have revealed. The film marks the first collaboration between Ranbir and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for films like Arjun Reddy and its blockbuster Hindi remake Kabir Singh. Animal is touted to be a “violent” film which rides on the complex dynamic of a father and son. While many in the trade had anticipated Animal getting an A certificate from the CBFC, what has come as a surprise is the film’s run-time, which is 3 hours 21 minutes. The duration of 200 minutes makes Animal one of the longest mainstream theatrical films to be released in recent times.
Meanwhile, actor Kay Kay Menon believes it was his role as Vishnu Nagre in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar that established him as a known face in the Hindi film industry. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Kay Kay shared – ” With Amitabh Bachchan being there, people had come to theatres to see him. So, that is the place I got recognised in my career. After which I didn’t have to introduce myself as an actor.” Kay Kay is currently seen in Netflix’s The Railway Men which dramatises the events around the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
Actor Vijay Varma, known for his diverse roles in films like Gully Boy, in a recent conversation, candidly shared a pivotal moment in his career when financial strain led him to accept a role that didn’t align with his artistic aspirations. Reflecting on his past struggles, Vijay told Galatta Plus – “ I had Rs 18 in my bank account and there was a call that came. They said there is a small reporter’s role and I would get Rs 3000. I never wanted to play a role like that but I took it. I went through that experience even though later I got fired.” Vijay recently starred in Sujoy Ghosh’s Jaane Jaan, alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Lastly, actor Isha Talwar, best known for starring in the Amazon Prime Video series Mirzapur, says being in the film industry can be a daunting task as artists battle insecurity and the pressure to succeed at all costs. In an interview with Indianexpress.com, Isha shared – ” You can’t do anything about it. But yes, over a period of time, you make peace with it, the nature of this industry. This understanding comes after many years. You know the industry is unpredictable, but to live through it takes time. That unnecessary pressure is off my head now, but it is not like I am less ambitious today.”
