Let us begin with our top story: Days after Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding to Zaheer Iqbal, her father and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha took to X (formerly Twitter) to share some unseen moments from the wedding and thank well-wishers for their love and warmth. The actor shared two videos from the wedding. Captioning the videos and photos, he wrote, “With an attitude of gratitude we would like to thank everyone for celebrating with us on our special day seems to be the ‘wedding of the century’ with your warmth, love, congratulatory messages for our darling daughter, SonakshiSinha with ZaheerIqbal as they start a new chapter in their beautiful journey of their lives.”
Moving on, Jameel Khan, who is winning hearts as Santosh Mishra from Gullak, has also been part of several Bollywood films starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles. Jameel, who is originally a theatre artist, recently recalled working with these stars. In a conversation with the indianexpress.com, Jameel said, “Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai, what do I say, it was long time ago that I worked with them. They are both good actors, they are stars. Shah Rukh is another person who is a great artiste. Has total respect and passion for his work. He respects all his co-actors and his crew. He plays the part of big brother.”
In the era of social media and people being obsessed with star kids, paparazzo Yogen Shah recently revealed the kind of hours and the hard work that goes behind taking photos of popular star kids. In a conversation with Connect Cine, Shah said, ” With Raha Kapoor. Just this morning, for whatever reasons, my photographer was 15 minutes late. Because of this, I couldn’t have Raha’s photo. You won’t believe how terrible I felt about it. I called people I share photos with that I won’t take remuneration from you. Because I missed the photo, it felt like I had done a blunder. I felt guilty.”
Veteran actor Sharmila Tagore is famously known for breaking stereotypes. In an interview, she opened up about wearing a bikini for a magazine cover in the 1960s and about gifting a Mercedes worth Rs 1 lakh to Pataudi. In an interview on Kapil Sibal’s YouTube channel, Sharmila said, “My husband was very different. He was very little perturbed and extremely supportive. He was calm and non-judgemental. I was young, I had a good figure, and nobody forced me to do it. It was before our marriage, and in those days, a Mercedes would cost Rs 1 lakh. You couldn’t buy a car directly; you had to get approval. I gifted a Mercedes to Pataudi before our marriage.
Mandira Bedi, who is a renown television presenter, rose to popularity with her 1994 show Shanti. The actress recently recalled her experience working in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. In a conversation with Curly Tales, Mandira Bedi said, “I remember Saroj Khan telling me, ‘you are shaking your shoulder like Sunny Deol, you need to shake your hips, like a women. Move parts of my body which I have never moved before so let me tell you it wasn’t fun and I was like ‘what have I got myself into?’ With Shanti, I was giving this hard strong looks, but with Preeti I was made to do many things I have never done before.”
Meanwhile, Weeks ahead of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s big fat Indian wedding, their extravagant wedding invite is going viral on social media. A culturally rooted invitation card filled with photos and frames of several Hindu gods has been shared with guests for the wedding on July 12th. In the viral video, on Instagram, invitation cards of different functions can be seen with details of the events. One of them was the silver temple with mantras playing in the background. The other one was a silver card, which looked like the main gate of an ancient temple. They had pictures of several Hindu deities including Lord Ganesh, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, Radha-Krishna and goddess Durga.
The grand finale of The Great Indian Kapil Show was one of the most relatable episodes. Kartik Aaryan’s mom, Mala, didn’t hold back in sharing some of the most embarrassing details of the actor’s young adult life. During the show, Mala said, “He missed one or two classes, so the teacher called and informed me. So, after that day, when he went to the coaching class, I followed him without his knowledge. He got scared when he saw me. I grabbed him and took him home. I was so enraged and frustrated that I looked for something to hit him with and ended up using my sandal. I hit him really hard. I really beat him a lot.”
Lastly: Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan is out in the theatres today, June 27th. The film’s story is a mix of Hindu mythology set in a dystopian world where a select few are on a mission to save the unborn child of Deepika Padukone’s character. The unborn child is said to be Kalki, the avatar of Lord Vishnu. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Kalki 2898 AD box office collection on day 1 could be as much as Rs 200 crore globally on its first day. In India, it appears that the film is projected to bring in Rs 120-140 crore on opening day.
