In our top story. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger 3 has slowed considerably at the box office. According to trade website Sacnilk, as per early estimates, Tiger 3 earned Rs 6.65 cr on Sunday, November 26th. The total domestic collection in all languages stands at Rs 271.09 crore. The film’s Hindi occupancy stood at 22.96 per cent and maximum collections came from Mumbai with an occupancy of 29 per cent. The Maneesh Sharma directorial now has just days until Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal is released in theatres. Animal is expected to bite into a large chunk of the movie-going crowd and will affect Tiger’s 3 business. The pre-bookings of Animal are already posing a threat to Salman’s spy film.
Moving on. Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal are both releasing on the same day, December 1st, and this might potentially affect the business of both these films at the box office. When Vicky was asked about this big clash at the Express Adda on Monday, 27th November, the actor dismissed the ‘clash’ using a cricket analogy. He said – “When two opening batsmen come to the crease, playing for the same team, you won’t say that the two batsmen are clashing with each other, so we are playing for Hindi cinema.” Vicky was in conversation with Anant Goenka, Executive Director, The Indian Express group, and Shubhra Gupta, Film Critic, The Indian Express, in New Delhi.
Anil Kapoor is all set to play Ranbir Kapoor‘s father in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. In a recent press conference in Hyderabad, Anil complimented the way director Sandeep Reddy Vanga cast actors for Animal. He shared – “Casting is a very crucial part of a film.” He also said that it was a “masterstroke” to cast Bobby Deol in the role of an antagonist. Anil then proceeded to name some of the other veteran actors who were a part of Animal. Suresh Oberoi, Shakti Kapoor and Prem Chopra are all part of the film and Anil mentioned that they have been around for years but for some reason, the “ageist society” that exists does not honour their talents fully.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor who is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie Animal, spoke about how he wishes to spend all his time with his daughter Raha. Ranbir and Alia Bhatt welcomed their daughter Raha on November 6, 2022. During a press meet in Hyderabad, Ranbir spoke about Raha and said, “I only want to spend time with her. I want to stop acting, stop working. That’s all I want to do but I cannot do that. I want to pursue my passion also. This is the most happy I have been in my life.” Animal, helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, explores the complex father-son bond between the characters of Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna.
The makers of The Archies released the song “Dhishoom Dhishoom” on Sunday, 26th November. The song, crooned by Dot & Kelly Dlima, composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and written by Javed Akhtar, features Agastya Nanda, Dot, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja and Suhana Khan. “Dhishoom Dhishoom” is a peppy number with the actors dancing on rollerskates being the highlight of the video. Suhana Khan shared the song on Instagram and captioned it – “Get your red lips on… Dhishoom Dhishoom out now.” Helmed by Zoya Akhtar, The Archies mark the acting debut of Suhana, Agastya and Khushi, alongside Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi Saigal and Yuvraj Menda. The Archies is all set to stream on Netflix from December 7.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar’s father and screenwriter-lyricist Javed Akhtar defended his daughter for launching star kids in the upcoming Netflix original feature The Archies. During Sahitya Aajtak 2023, Javed said – “Zoya has all the right to take anybody under the sun. She shouldn’t be questioned. She is taking the risk. There is a lot of talk about nepotism. Nepotism film industry mein ho hi nahi sakta. Duniya mein har jagah ho jaye, par yaha nahi ho sakta.” Javed also said that filmmakers take personal risks with a movie and are not funded by a large organisation or the government. Hence they have the right to cast whoever they wish to.
Actor Richa Chadha’s role as the feisty Bholi Punjaban in the Fukrey franchise is much appreciated by the audience. But there was a time when she was offered the role of actor Hrithik Roshan’s mother, despite him being older than her. In an interview with ABPLive, Richa recalled the incident and also highlighted how it’s not fair to older artists. She said – “I was just 21 years old. But someone had told the casting director that I play the role of an older woman nicely. So without thinking, he just offered me the role.” On older actors losing out on such opportunities, she said – “This is wrong that you are taking young actors and ageing them.”
Lastly, over a year after actor Randeep Hooda made his relationship with Lin Laishram official by posting pictures with her on Instagram, the 47-year-old actor has revealed that they are embarking on a new journey by getting married. In a long post on Instagram, the couple shared – “We Have Exciting News! A date with destiny — 29.11.2023. We are filled with immense joy to share that our marriage will take place in Imphal, Manipur, followed by a reception in Mumbai.” Model, actor and entrepreneur, Lin hails from Manipur and has worked in movies like Om Shanti Om, Mary Kom and the latest release, Sujoy Ghosh’s Jaane Jaan.
