The Valley Winter Wonderland Festival has become a seasonal tradition to bring residents and families together from throughout the San Fernando Valley region, and on Saturday night the glowing festival wowed all kinds of neighbors, from small children to the elderly.
On Dec. 16, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Whitsett Sports Complex in North Hollywood, those lucky enough to go had fun sledding on a slope with real snow. And the happy crowd — especially the children — enjoyed food, music, games, a toy giveaway, and an appearance by Santa Claus and The Grinch.

The event was coordinated by several organizations including Los Angeles Police Department, city Recreation and Parks, North Hollywood West Neighborhood Council, and the East Valley Police Activity League Supporters (PALS), according to the event sponsor, Los Angeles City Council President Paul Krekorian.
Formed in partnership with LAPD and Recreation and Parks, the festival promoted safe recreation and also tried to connect the local community to Los Angeles city services they may need.
