A Los Angeles police officer was attacked and injured at a Metro train station in North Hollywood, with the suspect getting arrested, authorities said.
The crime occurred about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the station in the 5300 block of Lankershim Boulevard, police said.
According to the LAPD, the officer suffered a leg injury and was taken to a hospital. Fox11 reported that the officer suffered a broken leg, and will be off duty until his injury heals.
The incident occurred while the officer was conducting an “end-of-the-line check,” meaning that the train was at the end of its line and needed to be taken out for service for cleaning and maintenance, Channel 11 reported.
Investigators told Fox11 that the suspect, a homeless man who earlier had another encounter with police, had been cited and ordered out of the Metro Station. However, the suspect did not want to get off of the train, and he began fighting with officers, Fox11 reported.
