Kriti Sanon, who made her debut in Hindi movies in 2014, recently won the National Film Award for her performance in Mimi. For most of Kriti’s nine-year long career in Hindi cinema, the topic of nepotism has been hotly debated and on many occasions, Kriti has been asked about her opinion on the same. In a recent interview with Vogue, when Kriti was asked about how the imbalance of opportunities for aspiring actors, Kriti said that the only way is to consciously create opportunities for outsiders.
Kriti shared, “The industry can become more accessible for outsiders if we start creating equal opportunities—if you’re launching someone from the industry, make sure you’re also giving space to someone who doesn’t belong but is probably more talented.” Kriti admitted that this was not going to be an overnight change and added, “Slowly, very slowly, the world is tilting towards talent and scripts rather than stars and big names.” Kriti made her debut alongside Tiger Shroff, who is the son of popular actor Jackie Shroff, in a film that was a launch vehicle for him.
The Mimi actor shared the stage with Alia Bhatt at the 69th National Film Awards ceremony where Alia also won the same award for her work in Gangubai Kathiawadi. “I’ve always admired Alia as an actor and she was phenomenal in Gangubai Kathiawadi. We’ve both played the title role in our respective films and it’s a proud moment to be sharing this prestigious award with her! I called her up and both of us were just too excited,” she said during a chat with News18.
Kriti was last seen in Ganapath, also starring Tiger and Amitabh Bachchan. The film flopped miserably at the box office. She recently announced her beauty line and her production house. She will be producing Do Patti, which also stars Kajol.
