While hosting an event for luxury watchmaker Longines, the ‘White Lotus’ star cracked a joke about his seven month marriage to the A-list hair guru.
By Chris Gardner
The White Lotus star Lukas Gage and celebrity hair stylist Chris Appleton had one of those whirlwind Hollywood romances that made it all the way to the altar before ending in a tabloid frenzy.
About six weeks after their first red carpet appearance together, 28-year-old Gage and 40-year-old Appleton (whose clients include Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa and Jennifer Lopez), jetted to Las Vegas where the lovebirds took in Usher’s residency at Park MGM. The pair then hit up a wedding chapel wearing fur coats and leather pants to they exchange vows in an April 22 ceremony officiated by Appleton’s A-list client Kim Kardashian and featuring a serenade from country superstar Shania Twain.
Less than seven months later, on Nov. 13, Appleton filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.” Days later, Gage not only put on a brave face to host an exclusive dinner party for luxury watchmaker Longines, he brought a one-liner.
“This company [has] been around for 190 years supporting tradition class, timekeeping and style,” offered Gage in his welcome remarks while standing in front of guests like Darcy Carden, Dylan Mulvaney, Kiernan Shipka and Drew Tarver. “I personally think that’s really interesting because some people can’t even last 190 days in a relationship.” To be fair, the marriage lasted 205 days.
Amid loud laughter, Gage reiterated, “I’m totally kidding.”
