Here’s a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:
The Overton Park Shell announced new hires within the organization: Formerly with City Leadership, Shelby Smith is now senior manager of Marketing and Communications, and Savanna Gifford, formerly with Memphis in May, is now manager of Development-Corporate Giving.
Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare added Ellena Henderson to its Methodist Medical Group-Primary Care in Midtown. She is a board certified physician specializing in internal medicine and infectious diseases. She received a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Henderson completed a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville.
Diocesan attorney Robert L. Hutton has been named to serve as chairman-elect of the National Advisory Council to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops during its recent semi-annual meeting in Baltimore. Under its bylaws, Hutton will begin service on the Executive Board immediately and automatically transition to serve as Chairman of the NAC on Jan. 1, 2025.
Eleanor “Ellie” McGhee was named director of marketing for Hollywood Feed, a natural and holistic pet food and supply retailer headquartered in Memphis. She will oversee marketing and communications for the brand nationwide. McGhee has nearly a decade of professional experience in the pet industry. Prior to her new position, she served throughout Hollywood Feed including as sales associate, marketing analyst, e-commerce manager and platform technology manager.
Christopher Seaton, professor of mathematics at Rhodes College, is among 46 mathematical scientists from across the country who have been named inaugural recipients of the AMS-Simons Research Enhancement Grants for Primarily Undergraduate Institution Faculty. Awardees receive $3,000 a year for three years to support research-related activities. This is a new program launched by the American Mathematical Society with funding from the Simons Foundation and donors from the Menger family.
Christian Brothers University recently was ranked among the top tier of Southern universities by U.S. News and World Report’s 2023-24 edition of “Best Colleges.”
