PORTLAND, Ore. — Police were called to a shooting early Sunday morning in northeast Portland and are investigating it as a homicide after a man was found dead at the scene.
The shooting was reported at Northeast 42nd and Halsey around 2:40 a.m. Portland police said the man will not be identified until the autopsy has been completed and his family is notified.
There has not been an arrest and nobody was detained at the scene.
This marks Portland’s 14th homicide of the year and the 11th fatal shooting in the city.
After a decline last year, homicide numbers are higher at this time than a year ago when eight people had been killed.
