Actor Jameel Khan, who was part of Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji starrer Chalte Chalte, has opened up about his experience sharing screen space with SRK. Jameel recalled how Shah Rukh helped him calm down and assured him that they would shoot the scene only when he was ready. Chalte Chalte was helmed by Aziz Mirza.
In an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Jameel said, “It was my first shot, and it was with Shah Rukh Khan. I was ready in my costume, and Shah Rukh came. Aziz bhai was sitting at the monitor and we were standing near the truck He said on mic, ‘Shah Rukh, that is Jameel. I have seen him on stage. He is a fantastic actor and this scene is very lovely. Tum log milke jamalo.’”
The actor continued, “Shah Rukh was very sweet. I told him, ‘I have done theatre and I have not done films. I would like as many rehearsals as possible if you don’t mind.’ He said, ‘I am also from theatre, relax. We will do as many rehearsals as you want and we won’t do the shot until you are ready.’”

Jameel Khan also recalled how director Aziz Mirza was humble and cooperative. He said that when Shah Rukh Khan was performing a scene and after the take was approved, the 8th Assistant Director came in with a few suggestions. Aziz listened to the AD and suggested a few changes and improvisations to SRK. Aziz told Shah Rukh, “He is my assistant. He has some suggestions, let’s try it.” According to Jameel, this was a very big gesture and he said that even SRK sportingly agreed for a retake.
Chalte Chalte was released in 2003.
