Triptii Dimri, who played a small but pivotal role in Ranbir Kapoor’s much-discussed film Animal, has received a lot of appreciation for her role as Zoya in the film. In a recent interview, Triptii discussed how she shot her intimate scenes in the film with Ranbir, and her parents’ reaction to them when they saw it on screen. She shared that it took them some time to get over it.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Triptii said, “My parents got a little taken aback. (They said) We have never seen something like this in films and you have done it. It took them time to get over that scene. They were very sweet to me though. They were like, ‘You shouldn’t have done that but it’s okay. As parents, we will obviously feel this.’ And I told them I am not doing anything wrong. It’s my job and as long as I am comfortable and safe, I don’t see any problem in that. I am an actor and I have to be 100 percent honest with the character that I play and I did that.”
In an earlier interview with E Times, Triptii had revealed how Animal’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga closed the set for filming the intimate scenes. Only she and Ranbir were on set, along with Vanga and the cinematographer. “Every five minutes, they were asking me, ‘Are you okay? Is there something you want?’” she said, adding that she didn’t feel uncomfortable because she was being taken care of.
Despite facing criticism for glorifying toxic masculinity, Animal continues to thrive at the box office. The film’s domestic collection reached Rs 398.53 crore on Saturday, and globally, it has surpassed the Rs 600 crore mark.
