The deal comes three weeks after G/O Media decided to shutter the feminist news and opinion site after failing to find a buyer.

Jezebel is back.
Paste Magazine has acquired the digital publication three weeks after G/O Media, led by Jim Spanfeller, decided to wind down the feminist news and opinion site and lay off its employees.
Terms of the deal to revive Jezebel were not disclosed, but Paste Magazine said the acquisition “expands its reach and bolsters its commitment to honest, diverse and engaging storytelling.” Paste Magazine aims to amplify Jezebel’s impact with a shared focus on great writing, while delighting and informing their respective audiences.
“We are honored to bring Jezebel back to life and excited to welcome the site into the Paste Magazine family. The acquisition means that the critical information and content that Jezebel readers have come to rely on will live on,” Josh Jackson, founder and editor-in-chief of Paste Magazine, said in a statement on Wednesday.
G/O Media had reportedly attempted to find a buyer before the decision to shutter the site. Paste Magazine said it was “preserving Jezebel‘s editorial independence and maintaining its distinctive voice.”
Jezebel writers are members of the Writers Guild of America East. G/O Media also owns and operates the Gizmodo and The Onion sites and relies on an advertising-supported media model.
The Jezebel acquisition includes the politics site Splinter, which was shuttered in 2019 and plans to relaunch next year during the 2024 election.
Paste Magazine is a digital site for entertainment and culture coverage, with a focus on music, movies, TV and gaming.
