It is turning out to be a sweet ride at the box office for Leo, as it showed stable collections–with marginal jump from yesterday–on its third Sunday. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Vijay starrer Tamil actioner netted Rs 4.50 cr on its 18th day.
The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial now stands at a total of Rs 328.50 cr at the domestic box office. The third Sunday collections of the film were, in comparison, lesser than that of megastar Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which had recorded Rs 7.9 cr on the same day.
What gives Leo the edge, however, is that its total so far is ahead of Jailer, which by the end of 18 days, had managed to nett Rs 316 cr at the Indian box office. Jailer ended its lifetime India run at Rs 348.55 cr, a record that Leo is aiming to chase.
Leo recorded Tamil occupancy of 31 percent on Sunday, with evening shows tracking best. The film will now not only hope to chase down the India record of Jailer, but also the worldwide box office number. While Jailer’s collections stand at Rs 604 cr, Leo had earned Rs 566 cr till Saturday, a figure that will be updated once the Sunday overseas numbers trickle in.
Leo marked the first collaboration between Tamil star Vijay and acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Leo boasts an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Mysskin, Sandy, and Gautham Menon. It has been released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
