New Delhi: In a major security scare, a man wearing a blue jacket jumped inside the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. He was sitting in the visitor’s gallery. The video of the man’s act has gone viral. The unidentified man was later apprehended by the MPs and the security.
The video shows the man running around the Lok Sabha as baffled MPs watch and make sense of the situation. The unidentified man was later apprehended. The MPs and the security personnel later caught hold of the intruder.
The incident happened even as security personnel were present in the galleries.
The video shows MPs courageously trying to get hold of the man.
According to the MPs present inside the Lok Sabha at the time of the incident, there were two men who jumped inside the house. As the MPs caught hold of one of the two, he pulled out a canister from his shoes, emitting yellow smoke. Both of them were overpowered by the MPs and the security personnel.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has called a meeting of the floor leaders of different political parties today to discuss the security breach.
The major security lapse on the anniversary of the Parliament attack echoed in the Rajya Sabha as well.
LoP Mallikarjun Kharge called the issue very serious.
“This is not a question of just Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, this is about how two people were able to come inside despite such elaborate security and cause a security breach,” he said.
Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said: “The moment I came to know about it, I called the Director of Security. I told him to give him an update. The update which he gave me at the point of time, I have shared with the House. It is a matter of concern but let us await details and then we will be able to reflect…”.
Not much is known about the man and their motivation as of now. An MP told HT that one of the men had a Lucknow Aadhaar card and the duo were raising slogans against dictatorship.
They are being interrogated by the Delhi Police.
